At UOS, we love to celebrate the joyous times in the lives of our members, throughout their lives, and from generation to generation.

Whatever the occasion -- a Brit or a baby naming; birthday Shabbat, with lollipops for the kids; a Bar or Bat Mitzvah; the graduation of our seniors; engagements, auf rufs and weddings; or a milestone birthday or anniversary -- the UOS family is there to share in the joy of the special moment and wish members a hearty "Mazal Tov"

Bar and Bat Mitzvah Program

Celebrating your child's Bar or Bat Mitzvah is one of the most important religious milestones in your family's life.  At UOS, we include your entire family in special programming designed to make your child's Bar/Bat Mitzvah a learning experience for all.

Hospital Visits and Bereavement Services

During difficult times and times of need, such as illness or bereavement, our rabbi is always available to provide comfort, support and spiritual guidance to our members.  Members who are hospitalized or convalescing at home are never alone in the UOS community; and a care calendar is available to make their life a little easier.

Our Rabbi conducts funeral services, shiva services and unveilings with dignity and the utmost concern for our synagogue families.

UOS maintains three cemeteries, Adath Emeth Cemetery, Beth Jacob Cemetery, and Adath Israel Cemetery.  Rabbi Gelman conducts an annual Memorial Service at each cemetery prior to Yom Kippur.

Visit the cemetery page for locations and directions

Yahrzeits are a time to remember and pay tribute to our departed loved ones.  To commemorate a yahrzeit members are offered alliyot and a range of dedication opportunities. Our sanctuary and chapel includes Memorial Plaques of family members and deceased UOS members.  A Book of Remembrance is printed each year for Yom Kippur, with a listing of departed members.

Please note that you can see, verify and add your Yahrzeits on your account in your profile settings.
