Shabbat Groups

For children grades Pre-K to 6th grade, we offer groups for different ages where they learn to daven, discover the special meaning and joy of Shabbat, study the Torah portion and celebrate the chagim. The children listen to stories, play educational Shabbat and holiday games and participate in other educational experiences and activities. Each program is followed by a snack-time kiddish.

Junior Congregation

Goals:

• Develop basic understanding of structure\function of Shabbat Tefilla
• Attain skills to lead Kehilla upon Bar Mitzva with appropriate nusach\niggunim
• Attain level of comfort for praying in any shul, anytime
• Take responsibility for the organization and implementation of Shabbat services
• Empower to communicate with God within the confines of organized Tefilla
• Constructive activity during shul hours

Junior congregation is for pre Bar/Bat Mitzvah children only.
There will be youth leaders supervising and helping kids with the davening as well.

Arts and Crafts

Our Sunday Arts & Crafts Program meets once a month at UOS. Each session features a project with a Jewish theme that the children can take home. There is a $4 fee to pay for project materials.

Bnei Akiva Sniff

Children are divided into three age groups, 3–5th grade, 6th–8th grade and 9th–12th grade for programs that are designed to encourage religious learning, community and Zionism. Bnei Akiva is the international Religious Zionist movement.

Bnei Akiva Shabbaton

This year Houston Bnei Akiva will be participating in a number of Shabbatonim (weekend retreats). Stay tuned for details. Make sure your child is enrolled as a member to take advantage of this great opportunity.

Teen Minyan

The teen minyan meets regulars and is a complete service led by our teenagers for our teenagers. Yoni Bahat supervises the minyan that includes divrei Torah and a kiddish following services.
