Shlomo Stern and his wife Temima are joining UOS as our Bnei Akiva Schlichim. Shlomo brings a wealth of experience to our youth program having been involved in running Jewish/Zionist informal educational programming for the past 10 years. He has held many positions in Bnei Akiva of New York and New Jersey most recently as its regional director. His involvement in Bnei Akiva continues in the summers at Camp Moshava, Indian Orchard, where he has held various positions including Division head and assistant head counselor.
Shlomo received a BS from Yeshiva University and made aliyah after graduating and within one year met his bride, Temima. They have a one year old son, Yehuda.
Shlomo and Temima, who will also be serving as the Southern Regional Directors for Bnei Akiva are replacing Yoni and Einat Bahat who have returned to Israel after three outstanding years heading our youth programming.
We are also pleased to welcome two young Israeli women, graduates of the Sherut Leumi (year of national service) to our community. They will be spending mornings at the Robert M. Beren Academy and will be helping Bnei Akiva grow in Houston.
Yocheved Hartman is a native of Riverdale, NY whose family made aliyah when she was 7-years-old. Yocheved has been a counselor in Camp Moshava, Indian Orchard for the past 3 summers and this summer worked as a division head in Camp Amichai, a camp which focuses on assisting US immigrants to Israel integrate into Israeli society.
Reut Avrahami, was born and raised in Israel, in a suburb of Jerusalem, Pisgat Ze'ev. Reut served as a madricha in the Bnei Akiva snif in Pisgat Ze'ev. For her national service she worked in a school in Yavneh, working with children who have had difficulty succeeding at school and at home. Additionally, Reut studied at Midreshet Lindenbaum (Brovenders), a seminary for post high school Israelis and girls from abroad.
Shlomo and Temima along with Yocheved and Reut are excited to come to Houston and infuse the youth and community at large with a love for Am Yisrael, Eretz Yisrael and Torat Yisrael.
